GENERATIONAL AMNESIA
is the result of the “Sliding Baseline Syndrome” in which each generation can only relate to nature according to their own experience, even as she becomes increasingly degraded, and our direct contact with her becomes more distant and scarce. We come to accept a damaged version of nature as “normal,” and we continue to lose touch with even that. Dramatic intervention is needed.
Let’s tap into the traditional ecological knowledge of the ancients, the wisdom of the environmental and horticultural heroes of yesteryear, the understanding attained by today’s champions, and the passion that defines the emerging leaders of the future, and call it GENERATIONAL AWAKENING.
Join CNHF and be part of a multigenerational team determined to use appropriate horticulture to Re-wild California’s built environment with inspiration and skill. Membership opportunities coming this fall. Stay tuned.
